By questioning and arguing noting is gained. by a perfect understanding of 'what is what' the Advaitic wisdom raises on its own.
Provoking and arguing on your own standpoint and opinion will block you from understanding Advaita or nonduality.
Self-awareness is the highest. Shutting your eyes to the world that confronts you and entering into the Samadhi or deep sleep or trance is not Advaitic awareness.
Sage Sankara says: ~ What is accepted without a proper inquiry will not lead to the final Goal. (Commentary on Vedanta Sutra)
The world is both real and unreal. It is real because it is a manifestation of consciousness, but is unreal, in the sense, that it is not absolute and eternal like consciousness itself.
People's approach is more practical, and they stuck with the reality of the world, they take it as real. That is why all the confusion.
That is why Sage Sankara says: ~ VC-63. Without causing the objective universe to vanish and without knowing the truth of the ‘Self’, how is one to achieve Liberation by the mere utterance of the word Brahman? — It would result merely in an effort of speech.
A buried treasure is not uncovered by merely questioning and arguing intellectually. The seeker must follow the right directions, dig, and remove all mental garbage that is covering the truth. The truth, which is buried under the illusion can be reached by deeper self-search but never by intellectual questioning and arguments on the unimportant subject matter which is not concerned with Self-realization because intellectuality is bound by form, time, and space whereas the truth is beyond form, time and space.
You need to give up anything but to know the world, in which you exist in truth.
The world should not be given up like the yogi. If you omit the world in which you exist, if you ignore the world, that confronts you, then you are not a Gnani.
The world in which you exist must be known; if you give up the world, what and how can you realize the truth of the whole.
There is no need to get an aversion to existence, as do the ascetics and yogis; on the contrary, you should go on living in the world, acting, working, etc. you should accept life as it is. Refraining from worldly pleasures is only a religious fable.
Religious believers believe that giving up externally helps them help one get into the internal attitude of freedom from desire. Getting rid of ignorance is the only way.
The seeker has to realize the world in which he exists is nothing but consciousness. Thus everything is consciousness. Consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman. :~Santthopsh Kumaar
