Thoughtlessness is not Atmic-awareness. The thinker & thought and the world, are part of the dualistic illusion or Maya. The thought will not arise without form, time, and space.
The form, time, and space will not arise without the mind. The mind ceases to exist without the Soul which is in the form of the Spirit.
Deep sleep is the state of thoughtlessness, silence, wordlessness, silence but it is not considered as a state of oneness because anyone can take a sleeping pill and will be able to get a state of oneness.
Trying to imitate the state of oneness in duality by observing silence, thoughtlessness, wordlessness or by yogic Samadhi or surrendering to the physical Guru, the Advaitic wisdom will not dawn. Without the Advaitic wisdom, ignorance will not vanish.
Thus, getting rid of ignorance through wisdom is the only way to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman.
Thoughts arise to the person within the waking or dream. The thinker is the form. Without the form, thinking is an impossibility.
Thinker and the thoughts are part of the known. The witness of the knower and the known including the world is a formless Soul.
Thoughts and thinker are present only when the world is present. The world is present only when the waking experience is present. From the ultimate standpoint. The waking experience is merely an illusion.
If the waking experience is merely an illusion then the thought, thinker, and the world are merely an illusion.
Thought, thinker, and the world have nothing to do with the formless witness. The witness is that witnesses the thoughts, the thinker, and the world together.
The thoughts, thinker, and the world are one in essence. And also the three states are one in essence. That essence is consciousness.
The Soul, the Self is present in the form of consciousness. Consciousness is the ultimate reality or Brahman or God in truth. : ~
