Those who object that the means and ends of the waking are different from those of the dreams, and therefore, they are not on the same level, ignore that you have time, space, and causal relation in both experiences. These three things make the waking experience real to everyone: and are its chief characteristics; similarly, they give the same sense of reality to dream. They say waking is real and dream is illusory, but for the one who has learned to view the three states on the base of the Soul, the Self, both are illusory. The Soul is present in the form of consciousness.
The seeker should not forget that 'Self ' does not refer to the ego which is itself a produced thing but he must know the ‘Self ‘is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.
Where is the need of a creator when one’s own dream experience offers proof that the Soul, which is present in the form of the consciousness bring into being a whole waking experience, which contains the world in which we exist, and if it can create a dream world, why not also a waking world?
The seeker must constantly reflect on the nature of the ‘I’ to realize the ‘I’ becomes ‘’I-less’ in deep sleep. ‘I-less’ becomes ‘I’ in the waking or dream.
The seeker has to find out: ~
‘What is it that appears as the waking?’
“What is it that appears as the dream?’
‘What is it that disappears as deep sleep?’
Deeper self-search reveals the fact that whatever appears and disappears is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.
The witness of the appearance and disappearance of the three states is also the Soul.
All three states are created out of single clay. And that single clay is the consciousness. in reality, the witness (Soul) and the witnessed (three states) are one in essence.
The knowledge of the single stuff is Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.
One has to mentally separate the Self from the three states, know the three states to be nothing but the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness because the three states are merely an illusion created out of the Soul, the ‘Self’, which is present in the form of consciousness.
The three states do not exist; that is not its point; what is felt as real in each state is one and the same thing that is the Soul the true Self. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
